I only have qemu working on 1 distro... the bad one... "Windows 7" -- I think it's version specific issues. (even older binaries on win7 doesn't work for emulating NewWorld macs. And I can't specify the exact processor model either (7455) so I use the generic G4)

PS - most of my PCs are used as servers which don't need xwindows/xorg so I haven't ran qemu on them yet. (I'd like to try the VNC Option but it doesn't work on my windows box.) -- And I've spend the last week installing Gentoo on my Real PPC (32bit) and on an old PowerEdge 6450 Server. I got them working minutes ago... =D

PPS - I wonder how qemu-ppc runs on a real ppc? =D

PPPS - I've installed qemu on my Slackware 13.1 (32bit) box and it installed fine - I didn't check the version though.

It looks like you need to specify the loop type in the append line.. (squashfs perhaps?)

I don't know the syntax either... I would try that - it looks like it's mounting the ramdisk, you just can't read it...

Depends on the OS...

On Windows [any]: WinRAR, WinImage will let you
On Linux [any]: mount -o loop disk1.iso /home/user/mynewdir
On Mac [10.x]: Double click and it mounts it

The files are ./boot/apple, ./boot/apple.igz, and ./image.squashfs

Here is the gentoo command line:
<code>-kernel linuxapple -initrd linuxapple.igz -append "cdroot root=/dev/ram0 init=linuxrc loop=image.squashfs looptype=squashfs console=tty0 video=ofonly"</code>

It specifies squashfs. I'd try that... (This works with the install-ppc-universal-2007.0.iso (gentoo))
